I'm planning on doing a poll with more gendered nouns for person; this one should cover words like "bloke", "chap", "guy", "geezer", "lady", "chick", "lass", etc. Additional suggestions by comments please. In particular, terms that you really like or intensely dislike are welcome.

You missed "lad", which seems odd given you included "lass". How about fella/fellow? Bird is on similar lines to chick. Gentleman to go with lady. Some people seem to use "bitch" as a general word for women too.

Are you interested in non-gendered ones too?

I wonder if "gent" might count as separate from "gentleman", conceivably.

"Bint" springs to mind now you've jogged my brain with "bird". (Not sure why they were in the same headspace, particularly; possibly just because they're the same length and share the first two letters...)

I wondered about mentioning "bitch" (and also "ho", on the same 'gangsta' sort of theme), but I wasn't sure where

ptc24 intended to draw the line between purely insulting terms and general ones. My mental rule of thumb was that if I couldn't imagine somebody using it of themself I wouldn't bother suggesting it. (But it will no doubt turn out that I misapplied the rule at some point...)

purely insulting terms - it may be interesting to see which terms are insults, which are reclaimed insults, and which are post-reclaimed-insults where people can't see where the offense is anymore.

Standard rule for brainstorming - if in doubt, mention it. Bad suggestions can always be removed later, and may prompt good suggestions.

Are you interested in non-gendered ones too?

Put them in, it's interesting to see what turns out gendered and what doesn't. I've heard of people using "guy" in a non-gendered way, for example.
